Moonstone is a type of feldspar. Moonstone “adularescence”(floating moon “glow”) is usually caused by refraction of light from alternating lamellar planes (structual layers).
From one of my favorite vendors - they are based in India and do all of the lapidary work, and source mine-direct. The company is owned by two best friends, and they take great care to source quality material.
