Discovered in 1906; oldest meteorite discovered so far. It belongs to the iron core of a planetary body and is therefore classified as an iron meteorite (mainly composed of iron, nickel and cobalt) formed by alternating ferrite and nickel.

Muonionalusta Meteorites are very rare meteorites that come from a remote area in northern Taiga in Sweden where they were preserved by permafrost and glaciers for thousands of years. The name "Muonionalusta" has Finnish roots coming from the name Muonio River and "alusta" meaning base or foundation, which may refer to possible first finding place. Around one million years ago, an extraterrestrial iron mass fell in what today is the northern area of Sweden. Upon entering the Earth's atmosphere there is said have been a huge explosion that ripped the asteroid into numerous fragments. Since landing on Earth, it has experienced four ice ages. It was unearthed from a glacial moraine in the northern tundra displaying a strongly weathered surface covered with cemented faceted pebbles and the Widmanstatten pattern, figures of long nickel-iron crystals.

Meteorite sourcing:

These meteorite beads were hand-selected in Denver at the gem show, from my Swedish supplier who found these pieces of the Muonionalusta meteorite themselves.

Labradorite sourcing:

From our US-based supplier who practices responsible sourcing and manufacturing at their production facility in China. Though the raw material is sourced globally, nearly all crystal beads on the market are finished in China.

Their Sourcing Practices:

For the product they mine themselves, they strive to minimize their mining impact, and take measures to protect local water sources from pollution and blockage. Once mining is concluded, they replant native trees and flora to minimize impact on local ecology.

For their lapidary artisans, they ensure their employees are paid a fair wage, provided safe working conditions, and given comprehensive healthcare and benefits. Their craftsmen are paid above market price for their work.

AVOID WATER & SELF CARE PRODUCTS

Avoid exposure to water (especially saltwater and chlorine), lotions, sprays, soap, etc because they can damage the elastic over time - and this can lead to snapping. Even the oils and sweat on our skin can wear out the elastic eventually.

Remove your bracelet when bathing, swimming, doing the dishes, etc. These activities can also dull the crystals.

STORAGE + CLEANING

Every bracelet comes with an organic cotton pouch for safe storage when not in use. Prolonged exposure to direct sunlight can cause crystals to fade over time. Keep your bracelet out of reach of children and pets, as they can easily snap the elastic.

Use a soft cloth (like microfiber) to wipe off oils, dust, or dirt. Avoid soap or harsh chemicals, and just use a damp cloth if needed. Allow your crystal bracelet to dry before wearing it again.

REMOVE BEFORE ROUGH ACTIVITIES

Avoid getting your bracelet caught on things by removing it before doing activities like playing with kids or dogs, yard work, exercise, etc. You can also wear them on your non-dominant hand to reduce chances of getting caught and snapping.

GENTLE HANDLING

The elastic can snap if handled roughly. Gently roll your bracelet over your hand when putting it on or taking it off, and avoid pulling or stretching too hard.
